Decorative Materials

What kinds of projects are you involved with? What products and servicesdo you offer?

We are involved in projects from inception to completion, and Decorative Materials (DM) specializes in the sale of tile, stone and bath furniture. DM has grown from a one-man operation representing two lines of artisanal tile to one of the most respected tile and stone firms in the country. With three showrooms across the state and 102 years of combined experience, DM offers a full array of glass, stone, porcelain, mosaics, large format tile, specialized slab material, and bath furniture. Projects range from high-end residential to light commercial and hospitality.

Do you have any special products that are especially fine or unusual product lines?

What makes them unusual and special, and what is their appeal? Every element of the DM design library is carefully and thoughtfully hand selected by a team of experienced design consultants. The result is a collection that is exclusively ours. We carry a wide variety of custom products, thus creating personal and unique environments for each client.

What is the most exciting new product or development in your field?

The most inspiring thing we’ve seen recently is the combination of vibrant stone and glass using water-jet cutting technology to create Pucci-like patterns! Fashion forward textiles are being replicated in tile and stone in the same season they are seen on the runway!

What other specialties do you have in-house?

DM offers drawing services ranging from CAD drawings featuring tile layouts to 3D ArtiCad drawings to assist clients in visualizing the final product. The design team (architect, designer, builder and installer) finds the CAD drawings incredibly useful in the field. It is amazing how many problems you can solve when you lay it out on paper beforehand!

Is there a particular project that you were involved with that you are most proud?

I am most proud of the bathrooms we donated at the Freedom Service Dog training facility in Denver. I love tile, but I love dogs even more! On a professional level, our staff is incredibly proud of The Peaks Resort and Spa in Telluride, the Westin Hotel and Spa in Avon, the Dancing Bear in Aspen, and the Alaska Air Terminal at LAX in addition to the wonderful variety of homeowners they have worked with across the country.

What part of a project is most satisfying?

The team. DM encourages being part of the team from the get-go. Involving the architect, designer, builder and AAA tile contractor from the beginning is critical to proper product selection and installation. What places in the world do you find most inspirational? Italy for tile and Nepal for my soul!
