What services do you offer?

First and foremost Todd Arenson Construction is a general contracting firm specializing in new construction and remodels. With our sister company, Julie Doerr Design, we are able to assist clients with interior design details from cabinet layout to plumbing fixtures and more. Clients find that our understanding of design and construction makes for a more complete package when undertaking a project.

What geographic areas do you serve?

While we have done a few projects in Salt Lake City, we tend to focus our business in the Park City area. We have been fortunate enough to keep ourselves incredibly busy while staying close to home.

What projects are you most excited about right now?

Currently I am working on completing a spec home in Glenwild. We have been involved since the first pencil drawing on a napkin and I look forward to bringing it to completion shortly. As with all of our projects, it has been a labor of love and hard work.

Describe your process?

Meeting and understanding the client’s needs is the first item on my list. Not everyone is meant to work together. I believe a client/contractor relationship should be a positive experience. Everyone needs to enjoy the ride. Once I come to an agreement with a client, I absorb as much information about the project as possible. I then present the budget based on the client’s requirements. Once the project begins, I am hands-on every step of the way. I make sure all aspects of the project are going well and advise clients when I see something that can either save money or make the project just a little better. I am proactive during the entire project, which I think keeps everyone from sub-contractors to owners moving towards a well-done construction project.

What projects are you most proud of?

I would have to say I am proud of all my projects over the past 15 years. While some projects are big and some small, I try to give my best to each and every one of them. With that said, I am a little partial to my own home which was published many years ago in Park City Magazine.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

While not every day is like going to Disneyland, I do enjoy just about everything involved in being a general contractor. I think the fact that I get to be creative and involved in the design process as well as a construction manager keeps the job fun and diverse. I like to be busy and this job certainly keeps me moving all day long.

What is the most exciting development in your field?

I think the most exciting thing in the construction world in Park City is the incorporation of new and contemporary design. During the last housing boom, it seemed that your only option was the size house you bought. We called it “Beige World.” Park City was somewhat stuck in the mountain style of design. It is great to see architects and owners pushing in new directions.

“My first big project was a home i purchased here on park avenue in 1993. it was the typical ‘miner’s shack’ that i gutted and rebuilt.”

When did you know you wanted to go into construction?

To some extent it was the family business. My father was a kitchen and bathroom contractor in Pittsburgh. From the time I was a child my father took me to his jobs and then later allowed me to work with his sub-contractors. I sucked up as much knowledge as I could and by the time I was 16, I was on my own jobs building out bathrooms. I took a detour after college to start an apparel company named Tsunami. While very successful, my favorite part of the job was designing and building the trade show booths.
Once we sold the company, I knew there was only one direction for me to take, and I have been very fortunate to create another successful business.

What do you enjoy about living and working where you do?

I always think that I live in an amazing place where millions of people pay to vacation both summer and winter. I don’t think it gets any better than this.

How did you get your start?

I was spoon fed construction by my father as a child. But my first big project was a home I purchased here on Park Ave. in 1993. It was the typical “Miner’s Shack” that I gutted and rebuilt. After that project, I knew I would eventually end up back in the construction business.

What do you listen to while you work?

Mostly, the guys working with me and my clients!
