When you arrive at the soaring entrance and pass through the handcrafted timber gates, you’ll understand why Tanager stands out among Oregon’s private communities.

Eighty percent of Tanager’s acreage is common area, including lakes, recreational facilities, amenities, and open space. Mother Nature takes center stage in the open landscape as Tanager provides critical year-round habitat for wildlife including native deer and elk populations, migratory waterfowl, bald eagles, raptors, and more—including the community’s namesake bird, the Western Tanager.

The infrastructure of Tanager has been carefully designed to ensure both enjoyment and durability through the seasons and the years. You’ll find three miles of asphalt-paved roads, built to county road specifications, connecting the homesites, common areas, trails, and lakes. Tanager has 70 acres of irrigation rights offering pressurized water and irrigation capabilities to every homesite. Green space around both lakes ensures access for all residents and privacy for waterfront homesites, and five lots that are over three acres and may have a limited number of livestock including horses, goats, and alpaca.

In addition to the open space and landscape, imagine having a water ski lake in your backyard and being able to ski or wakeboard on perfect conditions whenever you’d like. That’s exactly what you’ll have when you live in Tanager’s exclusive waterfront community.

Tanager is all about enjoying life. With nearly 300 days of sunshine a year, Central Oregon is the place for those looking for an active, outdoor lifestyle, and Tanager is the place to live it every day.

The Two Lakes

Tanager’s premier, 2,100-foot-long water ski and wakeboard lake is the only one of its kind in Central Oregon. Its size, depth, and configuration were carefully designed, and state-of-the-art materials and technology were utilized to bring a competition-level experience to Tanager residents and their guests.

Tanager’s water ski and wakeboard lake features turn islands to eliminate wakes from traveling down the length of the course, as well as a 10-foot-deep trench down the middle of the lake for wake sports. It has a sinkable slalom course with one-touch control that can make it disappear to the bottom of the lake if you’d rather surf, wakeboard, or ski, and only allows inboard water ski and wakeboard boats with underwater exhausting to preserve the serenity of the setting.

The ski and wakeboard lake features an erosion-resistant shoreline with 10:1 slope and a swimming beach with sand imported from the Oregon coast. It has a boat harbor with docks and mooring slips and a picnic area with a shelter, restroom, and shower.

Tanager’s recreational lake is for non-motorized activities only. This serene lake is eight acres in size and perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, and kayaking. Careful design, planning, and engineering went into creating a private lake that residents will enjoy for decades to come.

The lake has a dock from which to fish and launch small watercraft, and it is stocked with fish for sport fishing. It is also fully lined with high-quality, geomembrane BTL liners to ensure clear water and easy maintenance.

Tumalo Creek

While Tumalo Creek may sound like a tranquil stream, in reality, it is a rushing creek that flows year-round. Along the southeast corner of Tanager’s property, the creek has rushing rapids, waterfalls, and stretches that are perfect for fishing.

While seven homesites are perched above and overlooking Tumalo Creek, with two access points in community open space, all residents can enjoy trails along Tanager’s shoreline that stretches for three-quarters of a mile.

Tumalo Creek features scenic landscapes that include several waterfalls and rushing rapids as well as rimrock cliffs. It offers ideal spots for fishing and fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout.
