BUILDING WITH INTEGRITY

NO MATTER THE SIZE OR THE CONTEXT, ROCKY MOUNTAIN BUILDER PROJECTS ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR SUPERB CRAFTSMANSHIP.

12-5
When you are born and raised to pay attention to the smallest of details and to put your all into everything that you do, it’s hard to accept anything less from those you work with. And, according to Paul Hill, that’s the reason he went into business with his dad, Joe. Together, they founded Rocky Mountain Builders to “build integrity beyond reproach.” Raised around the construction trade, Paul never had any doubt that he’d go into the same business as his father. He started helping his dad out as a young teenager, learned the ins and outs of the construction site and the essential skills of a craftsman, and then started his own company when he was 21 years old. No one ever accused Paul Hill of a lack of ambition.

BEYOND REPROACH, PAUL AND JOE HILL OF
ROCKY MOUNTAIN BUILDERS PRIDE THEMSELVES
ON HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY

His father, Joe Hill, has had a long and successful career in the construction field and with construction management. While the family lived in California when Paul was younger, the elder Hill rose through the ranks of a very large construction company that specialized in large-scale and high-end commercial and residential projects. Paul says, “Dad worked his way up at that firm by thinking outside the box—always looking for the best solution to a challenge and always conscious of saving clients money. But his dream was to live in Montana, and he eventually took that leap and moved our family here.”

“ WHEN WE COMMIT TO A PROJECT, WE MAKE A COMMITMENT THAT THE BUILDING PROCESS WILL BE A GREAT ONE.
AND GOOD COMMUNICATION IS FUNDAMENTAL TO THAT.
-PAUL HILL ROCKY MOUNTAIN BUILDERS

Paul’s focus has always been high-end residential projects, so between the two of them, they have commercial and residential covered. Currently, Rocky Mountain Builders is working on two significant commercial projects—a three-story hotel in Whitefish and a 100-meter shooting range in Columbia Falls. But they also have a number of notable residential and commercial projects ranging from 3,000 square feet to 52,000 square feet under construction. And no matter the size or the context, Rocky Mountain Builder projects are known for their superb craftsmanship.

The Hills are definitely concerned with the final product and ensuring that it exceeds expectations, but they are also committed to the process being first-class as well. Paul says, “Budget and timeline are always important to a construction project. But we find that communication is key. When we commit to a project, we make a commitment that the building process will be a great one. And good communication is fundamental to that.”12-3

Paul adds that it’s that process and that thorough and clear communication that leads to such long-lasting relationships with their clients. “The people we work with are exceptional and they become our friends through the process.” Rocky Mountain Builders works with local clients as well as many clients who are building a second or third home. Paul and Joe make sure that every client is up-to-date on the project’s process and that no question goes unanswered. “Our clients are busy people,” Paul says.

“They appreciate that we take the time and make the effort to go the extra mile to make sure they know what is going on with their project. We are, after all, responsible for helping them build their dream homes.”

To Paul and Joe Hill, integrity is the cornerstone of any good relationship. Their business is built on it, and integrity informs every decision they make for each project they commit to. Paul says, “I was taught that it’s easy to say words like integrity and quality, but what really matters is living by them.”
