Fine, well-proportioned windows and solid stain-grade doors set elegant, original custom homes apart from the “me-too” tract variety. They are the final touches to a home, and pull everything together. When windows, doors and hardware are done right, the home looks and feels perfect. Finishing a home with the right windows and doors is the business of View Point, an Idaho company committed to service and searching the world for the right products to exactly fill the need.
“Windows and doors are doubly important, since they are both exterior and interior finishes,” says Matt Barrow, founder and owner of View Point. “We assist architects, builders, and homeowners in making these selections to address functionality and to work with the design finishes both inside an out.”
View Point carries a number of fine product lines for customers to choose from, and a staff well versed in the differences and benefits. Barrow explains, “We’ve found that each manufacturer has its strengths, so it’s important to carry a variety of premiere manufacturers.” These lines include Sierra Pacific, Loewen, and Windsor aluminum-clad, copper-clad, and wood exterior windows. In addition, they have specialty lines to offer unique brushed finishes, like Architectural Traditions, and Italian designs from Molaro, among others. Architectural hardware lines include Stone River Bronze, Ashley Norton, Architectural Traditions, and EMTEK.
To help customers discover the best fit for their projects, View Point’s customer representatives guide them through their choices. Barrow points out that the combined years of experience in the window business shared by the View Point team exceeds 150 years. What does that mean to the customer? “If it can be done, we can provide it,” says Matt. In addition, the experienced members of the View Point staff are familiar with the characteristics of the different wood varieties and can assist with these choices.
Service reaches far beyond the first meeting in the showroom. Since all windows are built to order, View Point designs the window packages, and builds the door systems in its own shops. For the windows, they develop detailed drawings that include the grills and architectural alignment. They check measurements, door swings, jamb distances and space for specialty installations like pocket doors and bi-fold, disappearing windows.
Hardware selections are made at the same time the doors are ordered. By coordinating with the doors, the doors are delivered already prepped for the specific hardware, as are the windows. Once the order is delivered to the job site, View Point’s experienced customer reps are available to consult and trouble-shoot the installation.
Matt Barrow founded View Point 15 years ago, and now has four Idaho locations, including spacious showrooms in Ketchum and Boise. “We are a professional service firm that aims to make the process of obtaining beautiful windows and doors an easy, friendly experience. We have strong alliances with this industry’s premiere manufacturers so we can promise the best prices, and we are local. This means our expertise is never far, and we are ready to troubleshoot any issues or problems. The best evidence of our willingness to work with customers is that 90% of our business is return—they have worked with us before.” He adds that the firm loves challenges and working with new systems, and can offer many examples of innovations like picture windows that meet new egress standards, and disappearing window walls.
