Snake River Retreat – New Construction in collaboration with Reid Smith Architects

When did you know that you wanted to be a designer?
My love for design took root during my childhood, when I found delight in tracing my father’s blueprints for amusement. The captivating process of bringing ideas to life fascinated me deeply. I pursued my dreams and studied architecture for a few years in Albania. However, I eventually packed those aspirations into a suitcase and embarked on a journey across the ocean to the United States. The unwavering affection I hold for the arts and the pursuit of beauty is what serves as my perpetual source of motivation and inspiration.

What inspires you?
People and history.

People: People themselves serve as an endless source of inspiration and I find immense joy in collaborating closely with my clients by unearthing their distinct style and individuality.

History: Being from Europe, with its abundant cultural heritage, I am endlessly captivated by the intricate tapestry of history and its multifaceted layers.

“Our design philosophy revolves around eclecticism and materials that resonate with the surrounding natural realm: such as leather, mohair, wool, linen, stone, and wood.”
-Nida Risto

Do you have favorite materials, fabrics, patterns, or design principles or styles?
Our design philosophy revolves around eclecticism and materials that resonate with the surrounding natural realm, such as leather, mohair, wool, linen, stone, and wood. We love to embrace serene color palettes, jewel-toned accents, understated textures, and curated pieces to create interiors that feel both collected and timeless.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
What I find most fulfilling about assisting clients in designing a home that mirrors their lifestyle is witnessing the transformative power it holds. It’s a remarkable journey of translating their dreams and aspirations into tangible spaces that evoke a sense of belonging and authenticity. I derive great satisfaction from the feedback I receive when clients walk into a space that embodies their essence and nurtures their well-being. Being a part of the process and witnessing the positive impact it has on their lives is truly rewarding.

If you weren’t an interior designer, what would you be doing?
I would lean more into my artistic aspirations through painting, dancing or playing music.

Do you have a favorite recreational activity?
I love hiking because it allows me to escape into nature. It’s a freeing experience that brings me closer to the beauty of the world and provides a much-needed break from daily life.

If you could own any piece of fine art, what would it be and why?
Guernica by Pablo Picasso. In a world plagued by wars, division, and looming climate crisis, Guernica stands as poignant embodiment of these tragedies and the profound human suffering they entail. It stands as a reminder that peace is a fragile state, and we are all responsible for doing our part to keep it safe.

Favorite season?
I love autumn, especially in the Tetons. The vibrant hues of the foliage, mirrored upon the tranquil lakes, captivate my heart. Exploring the park’s trails during this enchanting season is a truly magical experience, inspiring contemplation of nature’s ephemeral splendor and the profound cycles that shape life’s journey.

Favorite trip?
Italy. How can you not love Italy?!
