CLEAN LINES, ITALIAN DESIGN

Architectural Resources is celebrating its tenth year. Since its inception, AR has expanded its main showroom on Lindsay Circle (the former Scott building) to over 3,500 feet and opened an additional showroom dedicated to B&B Italia on Walnut Avenue. The past decade has also witnessed the curation of the world’s finest furniture manufacturers including B&B ITALIA, MAXALTO, CASSINA, Flexform, Poliform, FLOS, MOOOI, and RIVA1920.

However, perhaps the most notable additions to AR are the people. A few years back, Carmen Finegan AIA was brought on board to service the growing necessity for in-house architecture and design. Her expertise has allowed the business to take on projects at any stage. From ground-up construction to remodels, AR handles all work in-house. Further, AR added additional interior design services by bringing on Steve Schafer to the design team. With over 15 years of design background and the past nine years in the Valley, his addition rounds out a full-service design team.

“We have always focused on clean, simple, contemporary design and our objective is always a timeless, functional, comfortable end result.”

When asked what the biggest changes were over the past decade, owner Rob McGowan responds, “When we opened the doors ten years ago, there was certainly a trend in the larger markets toward contemporary design… since then I can say with confidence that it has taken strong hold in the Valley. We have always focused on clean, simple, contemporary design and our objective is always a timeless, functional, comfortable end result.”

Expanding on trends, McGowan says, “I am happy to report that clients are still leaning towards lesser square footage and more thoughtful and detail-oriented homes. The reality is that we are spending more and more time in our kitchens and we design with that in mind. Incorporating the kitchen and main family gathering place has become the norm…formal dining rooms rarely come into the conversation.”

While AR has projects spread from Hawaii to Miami, they happily call Sun Valley home and plan to continue to do so.
